Ensuring your employees have attended confined space training is just part of a well rounded health and safety regime. How well would you rate your companies health and safety standards? If particularly high, would you consider looking to achieve some recognition? If so, you could enter the British Safety Council’s International Safety Awards 2019.
The awards are in their 61st year, and open to all industries and businesses of different sizes – it’s also open to members of the British Safety Council and non-members alike. This year, however, the awards have opened earlier than ever – June, rather than October – allowing companies to tailor their health and safety activities in line with the criteria of this year’s awards, according to World Pipelines.
By tailoring their activities, they can hope to earn up to five bonus points in consideration of the awards by submitting appropriate evidence.
This year, there are some new awards that can be entered into, and Mike Robinson, the British Safety Council’s Chief Executive, said: “The new award categories reflect the growing investment of businesses in wellbeing and health, safety and environmental innovation. They also reward outstanding individual commitment of people, who have gone beyond the call of duty to protect their colleagues.”
Health and Safety Champions are non-health and safety role-related employees who have made an outstanding contribution to the protection of their colleagues; team of the Year award for special efforts made by groups; and also Outstanding Bravery Award for those who find themselves in often incredible situations where selfless acts are made in the name of health and safety.
