Course Overview

The Working in High Risk Confined Spaces training course provides vital training to employers, employees and sub – contractors who are required to work in confined spaces. The High Risk course covers the use of escape breathing apparatus and self contained open breathing apparatus (BA), in areas which may include complex entry routes and specific rescue procedures.

Aims and Objectives

This course will cover all the aspects that may be relevant to a high risk confined space entry including an overview of the Confined Space Regulations 1997, Safe Systems of Work and Permits to Work, Gas Detection, Man Riding Equipment, Escape breathing apparatus / full working BA Sets, Appropriate behaviour and working practices.

Content

  • Confined Space Regulations 1997 (Third Edition)

  • Potential hazards of working in confined spaces and precautionary measures

  • Risk assessment, safe system of work and permit to work

  • Atmospheric Hazards and Gas detection methods

  • Emergency procedures

  • Personal protective equipment (man riding equipment) including escape sets and full BA sets

  • Practical entry into a simulated confined space

  • Written and practical assessment

Duration: 16 hours over 2 days (including comfort and lunch breaks)

Certification:

Essential Confined Space Training Limited approved certificate awarded upon successful completion of this course, valid for 3 years
